Everything we wanted, more than expected

We had an awesome experience visiting many of the Yucatan ruins with our personal guide Miguel. He was professional, knowledgeable, fun, and very accommodating to our needs. We learned so much about the Maya Culture with respect to the Book of Mormon and the changes in architecture based on the date of construction. Miguel taught us about Mexican history and culture as we drove. We ate amazing authentic food and had comfortable and cultural accommodations. We learned about the modern cities around the ancient ruins. We loved swimming in the Cenotes, boating to the Flamingos, the museums, and of course the challenge of climbing the ruins. It was HOT, but the car was comfortable and air conditioned! Great trip.

Best way to experience the current and past cultures on the area!

So nice to have a world traveled guide with insights into the history and customs, the subtleties of the ruins and a depth of knowledge to fill the trip with depth you can’t green from the signs posted and never-ending insights. I would have walked over amazing things and never known it, we would never have understood what we were seeing if it weren’t for Miguelito. Fun personality and flexibility to allow for small variations in the tour that made all the difference. It wasn’t the tour anyone else has ever had, it was our tour. He knew all the restaurants and hotels and adapted as we went to accommodate our wants and needs. We always felt safe and able to control the tempo of the tour and I would do it again in a heartbeat. In fact... we are planning to do another location that Miguelito told us about while on the tour. The food was amazing, as a foodie and small restaurant snob, I found the food was better than expected and by comparison, dramatically better than the Cancun resort we stayed at for a few days prior to our tour. Hotels were at times glamping (biosphere) and at other times Marriott and Hilton’s best. Experience their style of hotels and life in general is like room temp drinks in Europe, not always what you were expecting, but a real part of the experience.

What an experience!

Eleven fun filled days with David Rodriguez of Alma's tours as he took us through Guatemala and Honduras. Lots of side trips and "off the beaten path" places we never would have seen had we not been with David. He was truly the "guide's guide!"

Incredible Week through Belize, Guatemala and Mexico

Looking for something different, we hooked up with Alma's Expeditions who picked us up in Cancun for a week-long ADVENTURE visiting the ruins at Tulum then onto incredible ruins of Lamanai in Belize that are accessed only by boat through the mangroves. We then traveled on to Guatemala visiting the grand ruins of Tikal and the newest discovery El Mirador (only accessible via Helicopter). El Mirador was spectacular and so very different that the other "traditional" ruins in the popular tourist locations. We then back into Mexico visiting the ruins of Becan with their fascinating mote system on our way back to Playa Del Carmen and Cancun. An AWESOME round trip! Our guide, David, was FANTASTIC in every detail. We learned the history and culture, saw some incredible country and wonders of the world. Very affordable with great accommodations. This is an adventurous journey that does not disappoint.
