Ever wondered what the weights and measurements from the Book of Mormon looked like? Here at Chichi (as the locals call it), you will discover a measurement system that Mayan village-people use for selling products and textiles which is very similar to the measurement and currency system described in Alma 11.
Chichicastenango is famous for its colonial architecture and the local craftsmanship. This town supplies handcrafts and textiles to most cities throughout the country. Enjoy the folklore and support local communities as you shop at the markets. After, we will depart to the town of Panajachel to enjoy the sunset and check in to our hotel.

After a good night’s rest, we gather for breakfast and listen to our trip host as he shares an amazing presentation about Book of Mormon geography, and most importantly, the facts and research that place Lake Atitlan as a top candidate for the Waters of Mormon.
Next, we depart on a private boat to explore two villages surrounding Lake Atitlan. Starting with Santiago Atitlan, hop on a Tuk-Tuk and visit some of the most iconic places in town such as the Cathedral, the LDS Church, the town market, the original “Laundry Mat” and more. We will even experience a Neo-Mayan ritual originated in this town dedicated to a Mayan deity named “Maximon.”
After lunch at Santiago, we head back to the boat and visit the next town: San Juan Atitlan. Here we will hop on another Tuk-Tuk and visit the town’s factories to see and learn about the local trades and the ancestral techniques they use for beekeeping, producing chocolate, medicinal plants, herbs, and spinning/dyeing cotton to create textiles.
