On this day we will depart from the Guatemala City airport and head over to Flores, Peten. Your first day will be spent exploring the magnificent Tikal, one of the largest and most impressive Mayan archaeological sites in the world. With your private LDS guide, you will discover the ancient pyramids, temples, and plazas that once formed the center of this great civilization. You will learn about the history of Tikal and its significance to the Mayan people, and how it compares to the Book of Mormon. On the second day, you will embark on a boat ride to Topoxte, a small island in the middle of Lake Yaxha. This City was once the capital of the Ko’woj Maya and one of the largest postclassic Mayan cities in the region. We will arrive at this place after a journey of approximately 30 minutes by boat in which we’ll surely spot crocodiles, spider monkeys, howler monkeys, and a wide variety of birds.
After finishing Lunch we’ll continue the tour in the magical city of Yaxhá where we’ll explore the Astronomical Complex, the Avenue of the Pilgrims, the Twin Pyramids Complex and the Temple of the Red Hands, and the famous building #216 where we’ll finish the tour admiring the incredible sunset on the Yaxhá Lagoon, one of the most beautiful and impressive sunsets in the world.

On the third day, you will board a helicopter for a breathtaking flight over the jungle to El Mirador, one of the most important and least explored Mayan sites in Guatemala. Dr. Richard Hansen has deemed this site to be the largest and oldest Mayan metropolis dating back to approximately 2000 B.c. Here, you will have a chance to enjoy a picnic above the La Danta pyramid which has been declared to be the largest ancient temple of the continent, while taking in the incredible views of the surrounding jungle.
