The Perfect Time to Plan Your Guatemalan Adventure
Your Next Guatemalan Adventure
Is now a good time to consider a Guatemalan Adventure? Since the beginning of 2020, the whole world has been through some tough times as we’ve weathered the storm of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Fortunately, it seems that many of the measures that people have taken in the past several weeks has enabled the virus to “peak” and now new cases are slowly lessening.
That means that there’s a good chance that airline travel will be fully enabled again in the near future.
Countries that you’ve always wanted to visit, like Guatemala, are still waiting for you, with all their history and attractions, so why not start planning now?
Of course, there will still be some precautions to take, even if you’re traveling to countries that had low incidences of the virus. After all, you don’t want to catch a cold or the flu either, while you’re on vacation!
Planning Your Trip to Guatemala
Almas Expeditions provides our guests with a wonderful 8-day Guatemalan experience, everything from visiting Mayan ruins such as Tikal, to villages still inhabited by Maya today such as Iximche and Kaminaljuyu to boat cruises on beautiful Lake Atitlan.
Our guides share so much information, and the people you’ll meet are friendly and happy to share their culture with you.
But the more you “know before you go” about Guatemala, the more you’ll enjoy it and the more you’ll remember your experiences after you return home.
What Will You See?
Request an itinerary from Almas Expeditions to see what is planned for you every day, whether you’re in a shared group or a private group. By learning your itinerary, you’ll know exactly what to expect each day, and you’ll be able to some extra research if you so desire.
Your guides will break down all of the details for you. There’ll be no surprises – and isn’t that a reassuring thing on a vacation trip?
Learn Guatemalan History
Ancient Mayan ruins, such as the restored city of Tikal, are one of the most popular tourist attractions in Guatemala. Anyone interested in Mayan history will enjoy reading a book or two on the subject before the tour.
After all, you’ll actually be looking at over 2,000 years of history! The more you learn beforehand will only enrich your experience as you interact with your tour guides.
There are a couple of books on Tikal that you may find of interest, such as Tikal: The Center of the Maya World, and The Lords of Tikal; Rulers of an Ancient City. You may be able to get these books via interlibrary loan, or through Amazon or Barnes & Noble.
You’ll learn the history of Tikal as it was thousands of years ago, how it was lost and found again, and how it was restored. You’ll see plenty of photos in these books, which will only whet your appetite to see the real thing.
Then there’s books about the history of Guatemala itself, such as The Guatemala Reader: History, Culture, Politics; Traditional Weavers of Guatemala: Their Stories, Their Lives, or even Amalia’s Guatemalan Kitchen – Gourmet Cuisine with a Culture Flair, which will prepare you for the gustatory delights ahead.
