Hotels in Cancun and Airlines to resume operations in June
Hotels in Cancun and Airlines to resume operations in June – according to the Asociation of Hotels of Cancun.
After last week’s announcements from the Governor of Quintana Roo Carlos Joaquin, the Mexican Association of Hotels (Asociación Mexicana de Hoteleros) has published a list of the hotels, airlines, and theme parks that will reopen their doors starting June 1st.

The list includes hotels in all major tourist destinations within the state of Quintana Roo such as Cancun, Cozumel, Playa del Carmen, and Tulum.
Ever since the epidemic struck the state, the location with the least number of infections and the best control over the spread of the virus has been the island of Cozumel. Most resorts and beach clubs will be able to reopen in Cozumel as of June 1st, however large resort chain Palace Resorts has announced that their property on the island – the Cozumel Palace, will not open until July 1st.
In Cancun, resort favorite for families The Omni Cancun Resort and Villas has announced they reopen starting June 1st, and other hotels and resorts have said to open as late as July 1st.
Unfortunately, hotels near Tulum have announced that most will reopen starting the end of July and a few such as the Bahia Principe resort will gradually reopen starting August and expect to be fully operational by November due to major remodeling plans.
As per resuming flights back to the International Airport of Cancun (CUN), American Airlines has announced that they will resume its coverage to Cancun with only 2 flights per day, 1 arrival, and 1 departure, until further notice. Other popular airlines such as Southwest will resume flights to Cancun (CUN) starting June 7th, and June 28th for flights to the Cozumel International Airport (CZM).
Famous theme park Xcaret along with their sister parks Xplor, Xelha, Xavage, Xenses, and more will resume operations starting June 1st.
